3 days

I know I've fallen down on the countdown, BUT I really can't put all my business out there for the world to know...plus, I've fallen asleep...turning 30 you start to head to bed with the chickens.

One thing I've done since my last post is cook!!! I know! I know!! It was so exciting...I love the mess it makes and how you get to clean it up!! I heart cooking!!!

As the big day of turning 30 edges nearer, I'm coming to accept that it's just two numbers...it doesn't really mean I'm another year older, another year being single, another year older, or another year being single...oh did I repeat myself...it's just two numbers!! I act like I'm 15...half my age...maybe I can relive those years over again like the ABC Family movie...12 Dates of Christmas...she experiences Christmas eve over and over for 12 days....or maybe 13 going on 30...that's more like it!!! Bring on the hot guy!!!

So it was Friday...the door decorating contest was turning into a heated hot mess...but I had only one thought on my mind...the tacky Christmas sweater that awaited me at home. It was going to make its debut later that night and I couldn't be more excited. All day I daydreamed about what I could add to make it even more tackier than it already was, should I add paint, glitter, gift bows...I was at a loss. School was finally over and I rushed home, but not too quickly because I had left my purse at home and didn't have my identification. Upon arriving at home I found my tacky sweater laid out on my dining room table just like I had left it the night before. It looked so plain, and quasi tacky...my mind raced because I only had two hours before the unveiling and I had to get in a nap! I didn't have time to add lights or paint, so I didn't the next best thing...garland!! I cut some green garland into strips, glued it on, and prayed that it would stay on...just for a little while. When I awoke from my slumber, I checked out the monstrosity that was lying in wait...tacky homemade Christmas sweater was a success!! I put on my Christmas stocking turtle neck, grabbed the sweater and left. I'm sure you're wondering why I didn't put it on, but I thought I was going to have to go into public and I was NOT about to have that thing on...they might have had me committed!!!

8-7 days

So nothing exciting has happened. I did have a student tell me today that I had coffee breath...I wanted to say what's your excuse for bad breath?!? I also only have one day left for the door decorating. I have up an outline of a body taped to my door, and this morning I was walking toward the door, turned off the lights and then almost peed oneself because I thought someone was staring in my door, BUT it was just an outline of a head. Yes I'm a nerd, but I felt better when students got scared all day. I'm turning into a 7th grader.

10 DAYS

Boy was today a doozy! I didn't go teach the future of America today, but instead took a field trip to our admin building to collaborate with fellow science teachers...science teachers of the world unite!! We laughed and cried while we analyzed TEKS and made benchmarks. Then came the fateful lunch...

Picture it...6 grown women travel down I-35 to a small Chinese eatery we'll call Chopsticks...that's actually it's name. We walk in, survey the place, there are about 10-15 tables with about 7 people sitting around. We order, get our drinks and find a seat, which was tough since it was overly crowded...NOT! Our food arrives and we dig in to our sweet and sour chicken..all complaining how hot it was, when all of a sudden this lady walks in the door. She looks over at our table and smiles like she knows who we are, by the way she had crazy eyes, should have been a sign. We continue eating when all of a sudden we hear her saying, "I WANT A SMALL FRIED RICE!" The lady employee said,"ok we have chicken or pork" The customer says, "I WANT A SMALL FRIED RICE!" The lady employee said,"ok we have chicken or pork" The customer then says, "F you! I WANT A SMALL FRIED RICE! F you! It's not that hard! I always have problems when I come here! F you!" the employee finally gets her some fried rice and as she is leaving she looks back at our table and smiles as she walks out the door. I looked at the employee thinking we might be on that show What would you do...I was half expecting John stoessel to appear, but he didn't...the employee looked at md and smiled and made the crazy sign by the side of her head. I have never seen such a public display of stupidity...I was shocked.

11 days

I took the 11th day off...I did go to target and for the second day in a row there I did a good deed. Some lady magically knocked over two wrapping paper holders and then looked at them like they were possessed. I helped her pick them up but they wouldn't stay standing...after two failed attempts we held on and then made sure no one was around and we let go and quickly walked away!

The day before target ran out of carts...who knew that could happen...they should quit letting homeless people walk away with them. As I was leaving these two elderly women were looking for a cart, but there weren't any except for the motorized one, I could tell they were distraught so I offered them my cart!! Looks like someone is about to get off the bus to hell!!

12 Days

Today was the day I was going to sleep in, well that didn't happen. Howdy felt the need to drop off the Cosby's at 3 AM and then again at 6:30 AM...doesn't he know that it is Saturday and momma needs her beauty rest!!! When I finally decided to drag my butt out of bed, it was around 9 and breakfast and coffee were calling my name. Once I ate, I cleaned myself...in the bath..threw on a little makeup, pulled my hair back...yep didn't even brush it...that's how awesome I am...and started on my errand running. I made it to Michael's and left without owing them my first born...they would be waiting awhile for payment...thank goodness it was less...then I realized I forgot my secret santa wish list at home, so I had to go back to the house, which screwed up my plan of attack with my errands. I like to plan out where to go so it makes sense and then I wind up close to home at the end...that didn't really happen today...the plan was screwed...good thing I'm flexible!!

I got my secret santa list and headed to Lowe's and as soon as I walk in I walk into an old man's smelly fart....I almost passed out and I almost told him he needed to check his pants...whew it was AWFUL!!! I feel like I could be a Lowe's associate if this whole teaching thing doesn't work out because I know where almost everything is in the store, which is scary considering I'm not really a person that you would associate with Lowe's. My purchases including a staple gun...yes I'm a proud owner of a gun, all my coworkers can calm down now because I am protected...staples, window screening, S hooks, caution tape and 2 clamps...probably the most random purchases EVER. Upon checking out, the cashier who happened to be about 65 but looked around 67 didn't know how to ring up the caution tape, which had not 1, BUT 3 freaking barcodes...I wanted to yell at her..."JUST PICK ONE, THEY ARE ALL THE SAME!!" she almost reached to call someone, but at the last minute reached for the scanner and scanned one of those lovely barcodes and guess what?!?! it rang up!! What a miracle. When she had finished ringing everything up, and I had slid my card through the machine, she asked to see it because she needed the last 4 numbers. In case you were wondering, Tuesday is the last day Lowe's will be asking to see your card because they are switching to a new system AND you won't have to sign for purchases less than $25...told you I could be an associate...I wonder if I could pick up some HOT SINGLE contractor...sign me up!!!

From Lowe's I went to B&N and stayed too long, but I did donate a book to a child in need. I then headed to the mall. The whole time I was driving there from B&N, a whole 5 minutes, I worried who all I would run into that I knew...I considered buying a ski mask and walking in so maybe no one would recognize me, but at the last minute I changed my mind...good thing because that might have not worked out so well. I managed to get in and out of the mall without running into anyone I knew...today was my lucky day, with the exception of the smelly fart and my trash still sitting on my curb.

I then headed to walmart and that is always an adventure. The highlight was buying peppermint mocha creamer and a stupid christmas tshirt that I'm going to turn into my tacky christmas sweater. I also bought some nonperishable food items for our food drive at school...I'm going to win at least one contest dadgumit or at least put forth my best effort.

Once I finally got home, I put on my christmas music and worked on my crafts/gifts. I'm surprised my arm is functional because I painted like noone's business. I've decided it's a great stress reliever. I even put up my christmas tree, but have not even decorated it yet, and not sure if I'm going to because I kind of like looking at it folded up and crooked...I think it represents my life...

14 days

Even with taking yesterday off, I still don't have much too much to say. Being a teacher takes away a lot of my creative liberties. I will say this about yesterday...I was in the middle of an awesome lesson about spacesuits and spaceships...don't ask because I don't know why it's important...when I get a phone call from our attendance lady or so I thought...I answered the phone by saying, "word" and then quickly realized I was on speaker phone and talking to the assistant principal AND the peims lady... I thought oh crap! I know my grade verification sheets were late but I got them in the next morning it hadn't even been 24 hours cut me some slack I was at UIL, why did you call the assistant principal?!? Then he said, "I have someone here that would like to see you." I started thinking, omg! I will never turn in my stuff late again, I will turn it in before it's even given to us, WHO wants to see me?!? When I said ok, it seemed like they were immediately at my door...I took a deep breath and opened my door to a wonderful surprise...ms Mary Ann Jordan...she had come by to visit one of her students and randomly found out I worked there. I talked to her for about 5 minutes, while half in the room and half outside...the one time my class is quite is when long lost acquaintance shows up. It was good to hear positive things and be praised in front of my boss...that doesn't happen a lot because everyone is so focused on the weaknesses, negatives, and the stuff we have to get done.

Today was uneventful, except that I picked up my christmas cards, which was exciting. I am easily entertained by the little things in life, Christmas cards, being crafty, wheel of fortune, wearing jeans on Fridays, and Fridays!!!

This afternoon, I thought I'd go ahead and start decorating my door...by myself...not a good idea...I got the paper hung up and then I started cutting...disaster struck...the paper somehow got crooked and my cuts were off and it looked like a 3 year old got ahold of it...it's bad when students are walking by laughing and all that's up there is red paper...tragic!

Time to get ready to celebrate...FRIDAY and jeans!!!

16 days

Today I won the bus driving lottery...I got bus B42...it's new with nice leather seats, a radio, breaks that work, and most importantly...a HEATER!!!

Today I said a few hail Mary's before I turned out onto the evil access road...it was like I had the Felix potion from Harry potter that makes you lucky...not that kind of lucky..get your head out of the gutter...I realized that I the road from the bus barn is one way so if needed I could be all the way on the left hand side and no one or nothing could stop me...or so I thought...I pulled over to the left side so I could swing it when I turned left in order to miss the massive drop off and the curb...well one out of two isn't bad...I hit the curb again, but at least I didn't get whiplash or make the wheelchair lift almost fall down...SUCCESS!!!

Day 2 of UIL wasn't near as exciting as day one...I didn't get to see two nerdy girls trying to play ninja by themselves , which was hilarious by the way.

This evening was the Christmas parade and my cheerleaders had a float. We were suppose to have an 8 foot tall blowup Santa in the middle but instead we got a half inflated, too drunk Santa that couldn't stand up, then when he decided he was ok to stand up, he'd start to levitate...our float promoted drunken spirits...no wonder we didn't win an award this year...the parade had a boat that was decorated in lights, an RV decorated in lights, a Waco transit trolley that was covered in lights that flashed to along with music...the theme must have been "light my ride"...we didn't get that memo!!

After everyone had icicles forming on their bodies, it was time for the P.A.C. Rally, with a ton of people that showed up for the free food, free hot chocolate, free entertainment by a local rap artist....you say free I say I'll be there and they were. The local rap artist might someday be famous...he shouldn't hold his breath...he needs to focus on losing weight or he might end up being the next biggie smalls. He started throwing CDs...not a good idea dude...they have sharp corners that could poke people in the eye...lawsuit...I almost got hit in the head with one...i would have cried!!

17 days

Today started last night when I couldn't sleep because the neighbor's decided to MOVE in at 9:30 at night...I guess they thought no one would be trying to sleep that early...Howdy was ticked off...as for me...I wasn't asleep I was just resting my eyes. I finally fell asleep, only to wake up to my blasted alarm at 5...guess what I did?!? I hit the snooze, woke up took the dog out and sloshed around in Pip's Backyard Lake, hit snooze, and finally got up. Today was UIL!!! I couldn't sleep in, I was super pumped and ready to drive the bus in the freezing cold with 50 students yelling and screaming, what a great way to spend a Monday.

I went to pick up the bus and my worst nightmare had come true...I got bus 108B...the bus from hades. I always get it when it's bad weather or super cold...it has no heater or a/c...not like the a/c was needed today, but the heater sure was. The breaks are almost non-existant and you have to push them all the way down in order to stop, BUT you can't do it all in one motion or you jerk the bus around like a first time driver who is break happy. I almost gave myself whiplash just getting out of the bus barn. The next obsticle was to figure out how to get on the access road without falling off the 5 foot dropoff due to road construction. As I sat at the stop sign because I was afraid to proceed, another bus driver who was in a short bus was waiting for me to pull out, even though I motioned for her to go because I didn't want any witnesses in the upcoming disaster...she didn't budge. It was my turn...I pulled out slowly, afraid to touch the breaks, turned the wheel at just the right time to keep my wheel from carining over the edge, and that's when it happened...I jumped the curb. Usually I would be embarrassed by this, but today I considered it a success...the only thing with today's curbage is the whole back end shook and made a loud noise because bus 108B is not just a regular bus...it's a handicapped bus with a wheelchair lift. I was rockin' the handicapped bus, with no heat, crappy breaks, and 50 plus peeps. Go me! Go me!

UIL was in China Spring and once we got there we toured the parking lot of almost every campus, minus the intermediate and high school. I wanted to let our students know what other districts look like. We finally made it to the right school and just in time, the windows were fogged up so bad I couldn't see anything...well I could see out the front, but not the sides, so when we turned it was based on luck. I'm good like that. As soon as I walked into the gym with all the children, I knew I had made a mistake. It was too late to turn and run, so I sucked it up and started making my way to the section where our students had made home and then I saw a most welcomed sight...Lisa Kay Key...I had a partner in crime/boredom for the day...it was just like old times, we gossiped like we hadn't see each other in forever or since last Wednesday...a lot can happen in less than a week. I guess China Spring was trying to save on budget because it was FREEZING every where...I stayed in my coat and scarf all day...I looked good...too bad there weren't any single men there...my age..I'm not a creeper!!! After a fun filled day of freezing and listening to screaming kids, it was time to head home...this time I decided to head straight home and not take the campus tour.

You'd think the day would be over, BUT you're WRONG. I still had basketball games to sit through. Today wasn't too bad though...we didn't cheer at the last game because we had signs to make for the parade we're in tomorrow...gotta love last minute work...just like me updating my blog instead of writing my sub plans for tomorrow....one of my girls starting guessing my age...it's a game they like to play, even though they know how old I am, but don't remember...kinda scary...then I taught them the Burger King...I work at Burger King, making flame broiled whoppers...song....the evening was a success...Ding Fries are DONE!!!

18 Days

What can I say?!? Today was one of the dreariest days ever...I think the dementors were out...there has been a Harry Potter marathon on all weekend on the abc family channel, which I've maybe watched for the past two days...I think they wanted their recognition. Regardless of the dementors I ventured out to school...had to get the upper hand on the door decorating contest...nah I really had to get sub plans ready because I get to drive the bus to UIL tomorrow...bet you thought I was going to say Hell...well that trip has been postponed indefinitely. I listened to church on the radio...not the same as being there, but it was good.

After school, I came home and crafted a little and walked the dog...in the yard...in the rain...he needs a raincoat and some booties....I bet if he's good Santa will bring that to him!

At one point I thought the house was on fire, but quickly realized that it was the dryer vent because I was drying clothes and was of course outside in with the dog.

I sat around for awhile and then realized I left my coffee creamer out all day, so I had to get some more. I went to target for creamer and came out with Christmas cards for my students, creamer, skewers...don't ask...ok I'll tell, it's for my crafts...ornament hangers, and a blinged out Santa hat.

Since I had a rough day of doing nothing strenuous, I decided to take a nice hot relaxing bubble bath. It was definitely hot...I forgot to turn on the cold water, and when I put my foot in I burned the crap out of it...I think I'm going to be scarred for life...good thing is my foot doesn't look like dumbledore's hand in the half blood prince...

19 Days

Well today was my relaxation day. I had some bonding time with Howdy, which consisted of me giving him a much needed bath and playing with him...not in a perverted kind of way, which I'm sure you knew but I wanted to clarify.

I went Christmas shopping today...I thought it would be good to go right before the Baylor game started, BUT I was wrong...everywhere I went I saw green, gold, and burnt orange...maybe that's because I went to Home Depot and looked at Christmas stuff at michael's, target, and hobby lobby. My Christmas shopping consisted of buying materials to make gifts since I have become SUPER CRAFTER!!! I also spent the day not cleaning my house or doing laundry, but why do something today when you can put it off for tomorrow...just hope I have clean undies. :)

Another good thing that happened today...I didn't have to watch a&m lose it in the 2nd half of a football game!!!

20 Days to go

I thought this morning I would spring out of bed because it was Friday...yep I was totally mistaken. I hit the snooze 5 times...thank goodness I didn't wash my hair...don't act like that's gross because you know you do it too...and it was jeans day, so I didn't really have to put alot of effort into my dress...well that's not really that different from every other day...I digress.  After the 2nd snooze, Howdy decided he needed to go out. I drug myself out of bed to let him out...I opened the door and he ran out..sniffed the ground but decided since it was raining, he'd rather hold in his waste products. Since I wanted to go back to bed, so I could hit the snooze for the 3rd time, I put on my rainboots, with my pj pants tucked into them, grabbed a "raincoat" and leash, and headed out the door all the while Howdy is jumping up and down because he thinks we are leaving...poor thing...he's just book smart, not a lot of common sense. I walked him around the backyard in the rain like a weirdo. The hood on my raincoat was too big and it was dark so I couldn't see where I was going and I almost lost both my eyes because of renegade tree limbs. Upon completion of the morning ritual, I got back in bed just in time to hit the snooze. Am I good or what?!?!

I finally get it up, and slowly but surely get ready for work. This morning I didn't have to rush because I went to the grocery store yesterday, remember I almost plowed down the little girl, so I didn't have to waste money on a delicious and healthy breakfast from Starbucks. I made some coffee...I've decided if teaching doesn't work out, I could always become a barista...BAHAHAHA! yeah right. I also got to pack a lunch that wasn't a loaf of bread...cause you never know when you'll want more...a jar of peanut butter and a container of honey...you wish you could pack a mean lunch like me!!

On the way to work, I jammed to Christmas music and kept repeating in my head...It's FRIDAY! You can do it! It's FRIDAY! You can do it! You can show a space video and grade papers because it's FRIDAY!!! Oh and I thought more about my door decoration theme and how it could be tweaked or if something else would work better....it's a wonder I made it to work...

Today at work, it was Friday...I'm not going into anymore details, except I had a male student stumble into a desk and hit the desk in the family jewels...then another student announces in front of the class, "he hit his peter on the desk and he needs some ice!" I needed something to add to some ice after hearing that. I also learned something today, I was shocked to learn at almost 30 what we need in order to survive on Earth...in case you thought it was an atmosphere, sun, and water...you're WRONG...it's lions, cats, and dogs...I don't know how I didn't know that...good thing I have one of the three...looks like I'm adding a lion to my Christmas list or maybe I'll get one for my birthday...even better, nothing says "Happy 30th!" like a LION. I really want to know how I'm still alive since I only have a dog??

I didn't leave work today until almost 6...yep Friday and I stayed until 6...I'm an overachiever...Teacher of the Year here I come....actually I did no work...I stayed up there venting with other coworkers...we're all getting Disgruntled Teachers of the Year...On the way home I realized that I hadn't peed all day...yes I know that is not good, but when you are so busy...eating chocolate...it's hard to find time...I was actually channeling Howdy because I knew he hadn't been out that whole time, so I didn't go either...we have that kind of bond...isn't it special. When we had both taken care of business (TMI) I decided I should play with him, so I was running around the house like a crazy woman who had just peed after holding it for 11 hours and being hopped up on chocolate, when I decided to run into the couch...I'm not sure when I'm going to see the large furniture objects that are sitting around...yesterday was the bed...that mother hurt...today was the couch to my knee...I'm not sure why they call that the funny bone because it's not funny...oh wait...wrong bone.

You know you've hit a new part of life, when you are watching TV and a PETCO commercial comes on and you get excited...What has happened to me?!?!?

21 Days left

So I've decided to create a blog as I countdown to the BIG 30. It's my goal each day to find something humorous to post here or I'll just randomly babble on and on about nothing, either way the last days of my 29th year will live on in the lives of the one or two people that will read this.

On the 21st day until my 30th birthday, my true love gave to me...oh wait, I'm confused, I don't have a true love...duh! I haven't even got to 30 yet and I'm going crazy. Anyway, today was about the same as the other days of my life. It started with me waking up, hitting snooze, going back to sleep, snooze going off, hitting snooze, taking Howdy out to poop and pee, going back to bed, hitting snooze, waking up, hitting snooze, getting up, running into the end of my bed, getting a HUGE bruise on my leg, washing my hair, brushing my teeth...ok so I guess I really don't have to tell EVERYTHING.

At work, let's just say I survived. The highlight of my day was coming up with a theme for the door decorating contest...I'm pretty sure my students think I'm a freaking idiot...oh well...I just live for decorating...doors...maybe pinterest has something that I could pin and use for the door. I'll have to look...after I enter grades. The day ended and I still had my hair...I'd go into a little more detail, but I'm not going to be one of those crazy teachers that talks about her students and her job and then someone finds out and gets pissed and then gets fired.

After work, I went to the grocery store...it shaved a few hours off my life. Grocery shopping at 5 is almost as stressful as shopping at 12 am on Black Friday. I ran into a long lost coworker...I haven't see her since the last time I went to the grocery store. It started my shopping experience off great!! I then got stalked by some janitor sweeping the floor in the produce section...I think he was trying to sweep me off my feet...literally...too bad he wasn't cute and under the age of OLD. Everytime I go to HEB, I need body armor, a shield...besides my cart, and blood pressure medication. The aisles are always crowded and people don't know they need to move out of the way because I am coming through. Actually, one little child found out the hard way today, I was behind this really slow older lady, I mean a turtle was moving faster than her, her daughter, and little granddaughter. The mom was holding on to the shopping cart from the side, while the snail was walking with the cart the normal way, except extremely slow. The granddaughter was running around beside them while they were talking about the weather I guess, who knows. I timed it perfectly to make a move around them and all of a sudden the little girl ran in front of my cart and I sideswiped her. As I ran off, I said Sorry! I wish I could stop and check on her, but my dog is home alone and I need to get home. Ok so that was a lie, but I really didn't stop. She barely ran into it...it was her fault, she should have looked in both directions and behind her and the mother should have had her in the freaking basket. It was crowded in there and she could have been taken by a stranger and then they would have to call a Code ADAM, even though the child was a female.

Now I'm home, trying not to fall asleep because I have hours of vegging...I mean paper grading to do before 9 gets here because that's when I become a pumpkin. While sitting here, I just saw a preview for another stupid Chipmonk movie...don't they know that they have made three too many. Guess not! Hopefully tomorrow is more eventful...maybe I'll hit the snooze two times instead of 4...
